چکیده

1. Conditions under which gelatin may be salted out into two liquid layers at 35 degrees were studied. 2. The equilibria governing the amounts and composition of the layers salted out with sodium chloride are found to accord with the requirements of the phase rule for the quaternary system gelatin-sodium chloride-hydrogen ion-water. 3. So far, soaps and gelatin are found to be surprisingly similar in their behaviour and definite indications are given as to where further similarities may be sought. 4. It is evident from this work that the term "coagulation" as ordinarily applied to the salting out of proteins is definitely a misnomer.

Effect of salts on the solubility of ionic liquids in water: experimental and electrolyte Perturbed-Chain Statistical Associating Fluid Theory†

Due to scarce available experimental data, as well as due to the absence of predictive models, the influence of salts on the solubility of ionic liquids (ILs) in water is still poorly understood. To this end, this work addresses the solubility of the IL 1-butyl-3-methylimidazolium bis(trifluoromethylsulfonyl)imide ([C4C1im][NTf2]), at 298.15 K and 0.1 MPa, in aqueous salt solutions (from 0.1 to...

Lighter than Water Dispersive Liquid-liquid Microextraction Coupled with High Performance Liquid Chromatography for Determination of Cholecalciferol and Calcifediol from Plasma

In this study, a dispersive liquid–liquid microextraction method using an extraction solvent lighter than water has been developed for the extraction and preconcentration of cholecalciferol and calcifediol from plasma samples followed by high performance liquid chromatography determination. Initially, acetonitrile and sodium chloride (NaCl) are added into the plasma as an extraction solvent and...

Influence of process variables on extraction of Cefalexin in a novel biocompatible ionic liquid based-aqueous two phase system.

Despite the fact that ionic liquid-based aqueous two phase systems (ATPSs) have been widely studied for extraction purposes, the adequacy of biodegradable organic salts as salting out agents has been left unexploited. In this study, we investigated the ability of sodium-based organic salts in the formation of ATPS in the presence of a common ionic liquid, [C4mim]BF4. In the pioneering aspect of...

Vapor-Pressure Osmometry and Conductivity Determination of Salting-Out Effects in Aqueous Surface-Active Ionic Liquid 1-Dodecyl-3-methylimidazolium Bromide Solutions

Systematic studies on the vapor-liquid equilibria (VLE) and conductometric properties of aqueous solutions of model surface-active ionic liquid 1-dodecyl-3-methylimidazolium bromide ([C12mim]Br) are performed in the absence and presence of a large series of electrolytes in order to achieve a deeper understanding about the molecular mechanism behind the specific salt effect on the aggregation be...

Towards an understanding of the mutual solubilities of water and hydrophobic ionic liquids in the presence of salts: the anion effect.

The understanding of the specific interactions between salt ions and ionic liquids (ILs) in aqueous solutions is relevant in multiple applications. The influence of a series of anions on the solubility of 1-butyl-3-methylimidazolium tricyanomethane in aqueous environment was here studied. This study aims at gathering further information to evaluate the recently proposed mechanisms of salting-in...
